How much does a commercial kitchen deep clean actually cost?
A commercial kitchen deep clean is priced on five inputs: kitchen footprint, equipment count, current condition, frequency commitment, and access windows. Here is how each one moves the number.
1. Kitchen footprint (m²)
The single largest input. A typical independent restaurant kitchen of 40–60m² with 4–6 pieces of major equipment will sit between £600 and £900 for a periodic deep clean. A hotel kitchen of 200–300m² with 15–20 pieces of equipment ranges £1,200 to £2,400.
2. Equipment count and type
Combi ovens, fryers, grills, salamanders and conveyor pizza ovens all add time per piece. A six-burner range + salamander + combi takes ~90 minutes to deep clean alone. Specialist equipment (tandoors, robatas, smokers) adds significantly more.
3. Current condition
If the kitchen has not been deep-cleaned in 12+ months, expect 1.5x to 2x the price of a regular periodic clean. The carbon and grease load makes the first clean a recovery job rather than a maintenance job.
4. Frequency commitment
Most providers (us included) discount for quarterly contracts versus one-off cleans. The standard pricing pattern is: one-off = 100%, semi-annual contract = 90%, quarterly contract = 80%.
5. Access windows
Sunday and bank-holiday work attracts a 10–15% surcharge. Same-day emergency cleans (pre-EHO inspection rescue) carry a 20–30% surcharge. Standard overnight Mon–Fri is the baseline rate.
Worked example: 50-cover restaurant in Soho
Kitchen 50m², six-burner range, combi, salamander, fryer, prep tables, walk-in fridge. Current condition: well-maintained, last deep-cleaned 4 months ago. Quoted on a quarterly contract: £680.
Worked example: 200-cover hotel restaurant in Mayfair
Kitchen 220m², 18 pieces of major equipment, large walk-in cold-room, 3 walk-in freezers. Well-maintained, quarterly contract. Quoted: £1,950.
